Our 2022 season is officially underway. Grab your kayak and a friend and enjoy the gorgeous Long Island Sound. HHYC is pleased to now offer an interactive member page to find a kayak buddy. HHYC Kayak & SUP Safety Review
HHYC's resident American Canoe Association certified kayaking instructor, Jean Kostelich, conducted a review of kayak fundamentals & safety topics for club members.
The topics covered included:
Essential equipment: life jacket, water bottle, first aid kit, cell phone or radio in a dry bag
Seasonal clothing: Water is still very cold-if you are planning to go out, a wet or drysuit is still advised
Weather: Check Weather Underground marine forecast.

Trip planning: Find a kayak buddy using our new member forum/ let launch crew know your trip plans/Log out on kayak board on lower deck
Learn emergency contacts & procedures-Use VHS 68 for radios-cell phones; 914-834-9418 for launch office.

Every Wednesday evening this season, HHYC will host a potluck kayak night at 6:30 pm. Meet at the club deck.
Each week there will be a different program such as:
Short club paddle
Fun & games on the water
Assisted self rescue
Boat & gear repair
Kayak film festival
Our resident ACA instructors Jean & Bea will facilitate instruction of many of the skills oriented topics.
Our on-line forum, and our monthly group paddles
and picnics will introduce you to other members
and make new paddling partners.
Members may also choose to attend additional
one-on-one training classes to improve their paddling
